The theme of my work is me and how I can portrait myself with all my memories. I recreate
memories in ceramics and like to play with the idea of what is real and what is to some
extent fake/exaggerated.
For this project I got from Edit a bakery with a lot of colourful pastries. The vibe I got from
the place was a cosy, warm place. So I chose to make what's for me a cosy, warm object and
that's a sofa. I wanted to portrait the process of a bakery, so I decided to make a work that
shows the baking process from raw dough to a baked pastry. So you can see one sofa baked
at 1060°C, another one at 1160°C. Then, there is also a third sofa baked at 1250°C. The clay
could not handle the heat anymore and so it overcooked.
For me it resembles the puffiness of baked goods. Do you still see the cosy sofa in it?
