Hi! My name is Catoo, I am 20 years old, and I study Ceramics and Glass at Luca School of Arts in Ghent.
At school the art I make consists of organic forms in all shapes and sizes, and I also sculpt folds of everyday things you find in your house like blankets, bags and fabric. I try to make it as realistic as possible. I am also someone who loves color so both things I glaze in bright funky colors!
The place that I got from Matan was a parking lot in Jeruzalem with a lot of graffiti on the old walls. In his package was also a tin can that was squashed that immediately caught my eye. I knew I wanted to do something with it because it is in line with the art that I make at school. What I did was look for a tin can in the streets of my own city, Ghent. After I found one that I liked, I remade it in clay. There were geometric shapes that appeared when I was making the can in clay, so I gave every geometric shape a color from the pictures I got from the graffiti at the parking lot. The colors came out more like a pastel color, but I liked it that way so I kept it! If you would put a transparent glaze on it, the colors would be a lot darker and similar to the pictures from the graffiti on the parking lot walls
